Viva La Mexico!

After missing our morning bus into Arizona (caused by a combination of heavy traffic on the way to the bus station and me freaking out as I could not find my iPod - see the obituary at the bottom of this post), we decided on a change of plans and brought a ticket to San Diego. Before we knew it, we were aboard the San Diego trolley (tram) on our way to Tijuana (TJ for those OC fans)! Here we are crossing into the border into Mexico and our first glimpses of Mexico from just south of San Diego:

After walking through the border gate, we became a bit disorientated, and JFiles went into one of the many discount pharmacies to ask for directions to the main street: Avenue Revolution. However, he got all confused and instead of saying “Avenue Revolution?” like we’d practiced, he accidentally came out with “Viva la Revolution?” After clearing up the confusion, and insisting that we are not revolutionaries, we actually received some cracking directions from the bewildered shop assistant, and were soon checked into our first Mexican hotel and savouring our first Mexican meal (bean-tastic!).

A Special Friend
To my dear iPod, wherever you may be,

You were always there for me, on long bus journeys, accompanying me on my morning walks to work in Melbourne, whenever I needed to do mundane household chores, or choreograph some cracking new dance moves. We shared some very special times together - remember that playlist we made of songs to play air guitar to? Or the time we cut some rocking mixes for my friends? You will be sorely missed.

Accidental revolutions are the best kind; they have the greatest chance of not sinking into apathy and selfish cynicism! Cynicism bad :(

Speaking of which, why don’t you guys take the last-few-weeks-only opportunity of visiting Castro-era Cuba before it’s too late? I recommend booking immediately. Operators are waiting for your call…
