A Weekend in Oxford

We visited Oxford very briefly about 7 years ago, but didn’t have enough time to really get a feel for it, so decided to spend a weekend there recently. We stayed in an old pub with views of the Thames river and punts.

Most people come to Oxford to see the university campuses and colleges, which, on the whole, are pretty spectacular.

However, one of the most delightful aspects of our visit was doing a short walk into the countryside around the river. On this walk we discovered canal boats, bird life and spectacular views of Hogwarts dining hall….. I mean Christ Church College.

We visited Blackwells book shop which is one of the largest book stores in the UK. For a non-fiction junkie like me this was a slice of heaven! Unfortunately the one book that I have been chasing for the last 2 months was not available (amazon here we come)!

On the second day we climbed to the peak of the 14th century Church of Saint Mary the Virgin. From here we had spectacular views of the entire city, including views of the Radcliffe Camera.
